Stages

• 1. Obtain stable mother liquor or cryo-protectant

• 2. Collect native data

• 3. Soak crystals (or co-crystallize) with Heavy Atom compound

• 4. Collect (derivative) data

• 5. Scale soak-native and calculate difference (native-soak) Patterson map

• 6. Solve heavy atom sub-structure

• 7. Repeat 3-6 to get a different set of sites

• 8. Calculate phases
